Sick note / Fit note

The practice is working to guidelines set out by the Government who has recently launched a new programme called Fit for Work, which
is designed to help you return to work more quickly. Your GP or employer can refer you to the programme with your consent. Once referred,
an occupational health professional helps design a Return to Work Plan to help you return to work. Legislation now means this plan can be
accepted as evidence by your employer in the same way as a GP Fit Note. You do not need to obtain further fit notes from your GP. For more

What is an Extended Period of Sickness (EPS)?
Jobseekers can also have one period of up to 13 weeks of sickness when they may be able to stay on JSA. (This could also be a third short period of
sickness in a JSP). During this time they will be treated as capable of work and available for work and may be treated as actively seeking work
depending on their circumstances. This is called an Extended Period of Sickness (EPS).  An EPS can only be declared for one continuous period of sickness of 13 weeks or less in any 12 month period calculated from the start of the period of sickness. It can cover one or more different health conditions provided that there are no gaps between them. Claimants must have medical evidence to support an EPS.

Following Hampton Medical Blog's recent demerge from the Octagon group (01/10/2020) the practice has made several changes to improve the surgery and to ensure that patients are given the very best service we can offer.  The Partners and staff were committed to the idea of revamping the practice post the demerge in October 2020.  The GP Partners requested a new name for the Practice.  This marks a new beginning for the practice; the approved name is “Hampton Medical Blog”.  This will be in place from January 2021.

Some of the changes that are happening within the practice are listed below:

  • There is a new management structure in place
  • The practice offers extended access hours – this ensures have even more appointment options
  • Additional vacancies have been identified and we are working to recruit to these currently
  • PPG (Patient Participation Group) – The Business Manager is keen to set up a PPG to ensure the “patients voice” is key to the running of our Practice

This year has been unprecedented for all, the challenges that the pandemic has created to our personal lives, but the impact this has had on you and your families standard health requirements. Hampton Medical Blog is thankful for the privilege of being your family doctors and looks forward to caring for you over many years to come.
