Depression

Antidepressants are a primary treatment for depression. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) like Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Sertraline (Zoloft) are frequently used as they boost serotonin levels in the brain, often making them the first choice in treatment. For cases where depression doesn’t respond to standard treatments, Tricyclic Antidepressants (such as Amitriptyline) or Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) may be considered. Additional treatments like talk therapy, lifestyle modifications, and in some instances, newer approaches like Ketamine infusions, are also important in managing depression.
